Adjustment & Manipulation
Adjustments to the spine are the minor movement of vertebrae in the spine. The objective of this movement is to realign vertebrae that have moved out of place for a number of reasons ranging from normal daily activity to trauma such as a car accident. Adjustments can also be made to other areas of the body including the joints of the extremities. The purpose being to restore nerve flow, function and mobility.
When the vertebrae are out of place, it has an overall systemic effect from muscular to the central nervous system. Without proper alignment and flow of all nerves and systems in the body from the brain, we can't function at our peak.
An adjustment is often a pressure from the chiropractor utilizing the hands or an instrument to move a vertebrae back into place. This happens with a quick movement and is often without discomfort. You may hear a noise that sounds like you're cracking your knuckles referred to as joint cavitation. It is the release of gases such as oxygen and nitrogen from the joint.
Overall, adjustments are an excellent way to keep the body functioning at its highest level. When the body is in alignment, the body is able to respond and perform as it was designed to.
Massage Therapy
Chiropractic massage is an excellent method for improving overall health and musculoskeletal efficiency. Massage has a number of beneficial effects on the body and the mind. Some of these include removal of toxins that can build up in the muscles of the body, increased circulation, and increased flexibility in not only the muscles, but also the connective tissue within the body.
Massage also can help with muscle spasms as well as soft tissue injuries. Increasing the movement and reducing the overall recovery time by helping the body in the healing process.

Electrical Stimulation
Electrical Muscle Stimulation is an exceptional way to help the body in the healing process. This is accomplished by sending a very small electrical current into the affected soft tissue injury or muscle spasm. The therapy utilizes this current in an effort to help reduce swelling and release trigger points that may have the muscle locked up. It does this by helping the body to release natural relievers of pain often referred to as endorphins.
This is a great therapy if there is a spasm in a back or neck muscle. It works well in relaxing the muscle and allowing it to return to its normal state rather quickly. Short therapy sessions are excellent at facilitating healing from acute and chronic pain.
Pediatric Care
As a parent, you might wonder why your child would need chiropractic care. Is it safe? Will this be a positive experience for my child? Who should I go to?
Infant’s and children’s development depends on their nervous systems. Their bodies are growing and changing at a rapid rate. A child encounters many physical stresses during their growing years, from the in-uterine constraints, the birth process, their developmental milestones (learning to sit, crawl and walk), then with the falls and injuries that children have during playtime and sports, even the stress of sitting in the classroom for hours a day can contribute.
Chiropractors focus on optimal nerve flow and they have been caring for children for more than 100 years. This is not a new issue. Parents who utilize chiropractic care understand that, because it isn’t often that they bring their infants and children in for musculoskeletal problems. It is usually because one parent talked to another parent and found out that chiropractic worked for their child’s problem. In fact, there are a wide range of things that parents utilize chiropractic for, such as: sleep issues, breastfeeding problems, torticollis, recurrent ear infections, persistent colds and sore throats, colic / reflux, asthma, scoliosis, headaches, bedwetting, constipation, growing pains and ADHD. Some parents even bring their children in after a fall or injury.
There was a ground breaking study on the safety and effectiveness of chiropractic care for children that found that chiropractic care is safe and that parents reported three unexpected improvements with their child’s care: 1. Improved sleeping; 2. Improved behavior and attitude; 3. Improved immune system function.
Kids love to get adjusted! Most kids ask their parents to bring them back. Children’s bodies heal quickly due to their strong recuperative powers. A child will begin to feel better and his body will begin to renew and revive itself. They just get it!
Prenatal Care
Expectant mothers are our most important patients. Not only do we get to care for the mother, but we also get to make sure that the baby has a proper nerve supply for development. There are millions of different hormonal changes and chemical reactions occurring both in the mother and the developing baby, all of which are controlled and coordinated through the nervous system. You need a nervous system that responds immediately and accurately to changing requirements in all parts of your body, and this has never been truer with pregnancy.
Even before you conceive, it is great to have chiropractic care. It can help you have more regular menstrual cycles and optimal uterine function. Restoring proper nerve supply to reproductive organs has helped many couples who thought they were infertile conceive. It prepares the body to be strong, supple, and as balanced as possible to carry the pregnancy. Adjusting women throughout pregnancy leads to a healthier pregnancy, which means an easier labor and delivery, and a better transition for the baby into this life.
Studies show that chiropractic care may result in easier pregnancy including increased comfort during the third trimester and delivery and a reduced need for analgesics (pain medication). Here are the results of a few of those studies:
Women receiving chiropractic care through their first pregnancy had a 24% reduction in labor times and subjects giving birth for the second or third time reported a 39% reduction in labor times.
The need for analgesics was reduced by 50% in the patients who received adjustments.
84% of women report relief of back pain during pregnancy with chiropractic care.
Chiropractic care has helped new mothers become more comfortable breastfeeding (posture-wise) as well as to produce more milk.
Chiropractic care has also been shown to reduce the likelihood of postpartum depression.
